I only see 5 birds in the nest now. There were six a few days ago. I am hoping that they are standing on one, because i fear that one didn't make it. I haven't been brave enough to check the mulch below for a corpse. The babies are beginning to get a few feathers and more hair on their heads. They have changed so much already.
This morning, we had a sparrow that was sitting on my iris plants. He didn't move. We figured he was either standing his ground, challenging us, or he was an older sick bird. Clyde tapped him with the end of an umbrella to get him to fly away. (not hard at all BTW) We weren't sure if he was protecting the babies or a predator.
