spacers

Monday morning, we had an appointment for the dentist. Libby's spacers arrived and we needed to have them installed. Libby was so happy and yet nervous @ the same time. The hygienist told us that she would be a bit sore, but otherwise, fine to go to school. The dentist said that she needed to have 2 fillings, as a preventative measure against cavities on the teeth with the appliance on them. She was so excited. She showed everyone. It so reminded me of a film I saw growing up called 'Summer Rental' with John Candy in it. In the film, John Candy is hurt and his neighbor comes over for a visit. During the visit, the neighbor takes off her bikini top (it doesn't show anything, only implied...it is a PG film BTW) and asks him to check out her new boob job. She asks him if they look real while jiggling them etc. So, when Libby was telling me about her day, she said that she had shown her pals the spacer. One of her friends said that it was a retainer. Libby told her that it was a spacer, while the other gal argued, so Libby asked a few more friend what they were, and they all agreed that they were spacers. Then, on Tuesday night, I overheard her in Activity Day Girls telling the girls about her new spacers and then she showed Jill H. She is hilarious with these things. She is bummed that she can't have gum, and is trying to sweet talk me into letting her suck on gum, instead of chewing it. Is she nuts? These are about $700 worth of dental equipment in her mouth...do I look that naive, to let her chew gum??

And BTW, that isn't a hicky on my 9 year old's neck. When we were at Bubbie and Pop Pop's house Saturday afternoon, Erin, Libby and Kayleigh were playing and some how she got scratched. Cousin fun!!
