skating
*First of all, I must apolozige for the fuzzy pictures. I forgot my camera and cell phone pictures aren't the greatest for action shots.
Penny was invited to a skating birthday party. Josh and Jake crashed the party and went skating too. This was their first time in the rink. I think they thought it would be easier than it actually was. I attempted to give them hints, but the last time I went skating, the claw bangs were still in fashion. They each took some nasty tumbles, but they each got back up again.
I admire their drive to skate. I figured that after the beating they took from the rink, they wouldn't want to go again. Totally wrong, they want to attend the next skate PTA night. (Doh!)

valentines
Clyde and I usually do not celebrate Valentine's day. Our anniverary is 10 days later and we decided years ago that we'd rather celebrate our anniversary than a Hallmark holiday. This year we celebrated V-day by upgrading our phones. Clyde got the spiffy new one that requires a higher data package and in return he got me this kick butt mitre saw. That's right a mitre saw...and I am in love I tell you! (my next tool will be a pocket drill...I'm just sayin.)
So earthy and woodsy. I love it. We even found a place that makes them locally and debated on this type of frame. Clyde however, hasn't ever been too keen on this type of bed. After coming across the Ana White website, one bed caught my attention; the Farmhouse bed. I did some research, priced lumber, and got to work. Home Depot had all of the lumber needed, where as Lowes only had selected materials.
I used my handy dandy new mitre saw and made all of my cuts. I must say again how much I love that saw!
I took one day to cut the wood and assemble the headboard. I started the footboard, but my PTA duties and 2 dead drills told me to stop. (not to mention my freaking aching body. Lumber is heavy!) and yes, if you zoom in on the picture, you will see dog footprints. Uno was scared of the saw, but more of the drill. She kept coming over and stepping on the wood. I got frustrated with her and banished her to the garage. dogs. i knew it was going to be painted, so I scrubbed her pawprints and let the paint work it's magic.
Once the bed was wood filled, sanded and semi together, Clyde and I painted her up. Once the bed was dry, we disassembled it and put it in our room, where the frame was stabilized securely.
Some modifications to the frame had to be made so that it could be disassembled and reassembled. The original plans call for it being nailed/screwed into place. I added joists for the slats, instead of just screwing them into the rails. After making one bed, I am in no hurry to make another one. I am very happy that it turned out so well. Most importantly, Clyde loves it. love you Clyde!

powerball
A few weeks ago, Clyde and I had stopped at a Sheetz gas station to buy gas. When he came out, he said that there was a News camera inside filming. We didn't think much about it. Two Sundays ago, a man at church said that he thought he saw Clyde on the news. (I think the Brigham Young jacket gave him away.) The news story about people buying lottery tickets. We do not buy lottery tickets. I'm not bashing people who do, we just don't. (Maybe we should because the powerball is up to 325 million dollars!) Clyde was only paying for gas. Funny huh? Then this past Saturday, we got a text from a friend who had seen him again on the news. The news reran the lottery ticket segment and Clyde was shown again. It feels weird to have Clyde on a permanent data base about buying lottery tickets.

mermaid tales
My friend, Ashley, sent me a picture this last week of an idea for a photo prop. It was adorable! I had seen and saved a picture from pinterest a few weeks ago on a similar idea.
This is my version with the help of ravelry. Yes, that is a sea-shell string bikini bra and a starfish head piece. So adorable, if i do say so myself, which I do.

day 100
Yesterday was the 100th day of school. The kindergartners dressed up as if they were 100 years old. We powered her hair, and she walked hunched over saying, "Oh my aching back!" This took it's toll on Penny. She came home from school, took off her knee-hi's and fell fast asleep on the puppy bed. I think we may need to buy one of those beds just for the wardlings. (toto is chewing on a raw hide. When the raw hide is longer, he'll hold it in his mouth like a stoggy. It is funny to see.)

mumford and sons kinda day
In Ward news, we have yellow back! Hip Hip Hooray!! It was indeed a critter/creature that had a nest and chewed through hoses and wires. Unfortunately, no critter corpse was found fried/baked/ or cooked in the engine. blasted!
