new RX

Last night the boys had their first soccer practice. Jacob is in between age brackets U-8 and U-10/12. Jacob practiced with Josh's team last night and the coach loved him. Jacob is a very good soccer player. He is a little bull dog and just knows how to play.  He is awesome. Josh is a very good player as well. He will be one of the taller boys on the team this year. When the practice was over, Clyde was walking to the car, when the coach yelled, "Ward, I want him!" Meaning he just bumped Jacob up to the older league. Both Clyde and I think that playing with older and bigger teams makes you a better player. Plus this means, one practice and one game on Saturdays instead of 3 separate teams, with 3 separate practices and 3 separate games. good times! (and hopefully being younger won't mean getting hurt.)

We ordered Josh a new pair of glasses in June. When he got them he said that the left lens wasn't right. We took them back into the shop, they checked them out and said that they were made correctly.  So, I made an appt. with our dr, after they told us that his eyes most likely have changed. The original appt. they gave me was in November. I took the appt. but thought it was unacceptable timing. I just kept calling the Dr.'s office to check to see if they had an empty spot. We were seen today and as it turns out, Josh's glasses weren't made correctly. The shop misread the RX.  Josh told us something wasn't right. I took the RX, receipt and note from our Dr., into the shop. They were cool and Josh should have a new lens within a week.

While at the dr.'s office I get a phone call, because Toto had escaped, again. This is an ongoing problem with this dog. He is on a zipline. He broke it, dug a new hole under the fence, and was walking about the neighborhood. We are meeting loads of new people in our neighborhood. However,  it is an embarrassing way of meeting new people in our neighborhood.

leggings

Yesterday, when I picked Penny up from school, her teacher had a tale to tell. Ms. C had asked her students to draw themselves and what they were wearing that day. Ms. C came up to Penny and told her to draw her pants. Penny replied, "I'm not wearing pants, my wearing leggings."

I got suckered into helping the PTA this year. Today I made 530 copies of a flier, (that i made) cut out those copies, seperated them by number in each class room, and placed them into the correct teacher's box. Alot of work for some paper that is going to be trashed.

pick-up and day 2

She had a great first day of Kindergarten. Going to Pre-K last year helped ease this transition for the both of us.
These are day 2 pics. Josh asked if I was going to take pictures eveyday. So, just ot annoy him I snapped this one.

back to school!

It is hard to believe that school is back in session. What is harder to believe is that we have a Wardling old enough for High School! What is the hardest to believe is that our final Wardling began Kindergarten today. We have an 8th grader, a 5th grader, and a 2nd grader in the middle.  All the Wardlings woke up with a spring in their step, ready for the start of the school year. (I was trying to stall with pictures.) I was brave and didn't cry as I walked away, leaving Miss Penny in her class. I think she was ready for me to leave!

I was asked by our PTA President, @ the end of last school year, to be the secretary in PTA this year. After finding out what my responsibilities were, I agreed, but for selfish reasons. I like being in the know. There are 17 new teachers in our school. Last week, I helped to serve breakfast for our teachers, and this morning, I helped with a "coffee and Kleenex" thing for first time parents. Nice.

Here's to a fantastic new year of school!

earthquake...

North Carolina had an earthquake yesterday. When I felt the shaking, I immediately thought that it was an earthquake, but doubted myself into thinking that maybe it was the AC unit or the washing machine. We were all ok and as a matter of fact, the 3 young Wardlings didn't notice it at all.

This is a map of the United States fault lines. If you will notice there are a few in NC.

white dress

We have some good friends that were blessed with their first baby this summer. As their baby gift, I made their baby's blessing dress. I wanted to use eyelet because it was so delicate and girly. JoAnn's didn't have any eyelet fabric that I liked. The embroidery on the fabric wasn't delicate enough for a newborn. Before continuing the search at other fabric stores, I decided to dig through my own fabric, and go figure, I had what I wanted all along. I like how the dress turned out. I'm glad our friends did too! Happy Baby L family!

in use

Campy is finished and is already being loved. This is the exact reason for crocheting this monster blanket.
Should I be concerned that our boys usually sleep like this?
