game six

Game six was a lot of fun to watch. We, along with the brother/ sister duo's mom, 1 spouse and their child, were the only spectaters. Our children hung out behind the goalie net to fetch the miskicked balls. They really enjoy helping out, but it would be nice if a few of the players on our team, would acknowledge them and thank them for getting their miskicked balls.
This was a fun part in the game. Clyde was playing and got the ball past the defenders on the opposing team. He rocks!
I think this is a goal that slipped by Clyde. Can't catch them all, though he does do an amazing job @ goalie!
Clyde is kicking the ball back into play. what form! I need to go back and crop it, so that the picture is better.
This was 1/2 time. We did have enough players to play...just enough. They all did great!

sleeping while emailing

Yesterday afternoon, we had to pick Erin up, from her summer program, and since it was sunny, we hit the pool running. The Wardlings were very upset about the weather the day before, so it was perfect. We had a great time. On the way home, the Wardlings all looked so tired. They all swam their wee hearts out! Look @ Libby's face... pure exhaustion!

Last night, I was checking e-mail, reading a few blogs and Penny climbed up behind me in the chair. Then a few minutes later, I heard heavy, sleep breathing. My little sweetheart fell asleep on me. She was gone too. She didn't open her eyes or budge when I moved her from this position.

game cinq

Game cinq (pronounced sank in french) didn't go too well. We didn't have enough team Cal members to show, to play the game. We had to forfeit. I think that it is a better loss to lose from defeat rather than by default. Here the first few team cal members are waiting...hoping...for more team members to show up. Thankfully 2 more players, arrived...our brother/ sister duo, which made 5 members. We needed 6 to play. However, one of our players knew the ref and so the ref played on our team and the two teams still scrimmaged.

As the game progressed, the sky became darker and darker. We made it, to cover..aka, the van... just in time before the sky opened up. It has been raining off and on today. We went to the usual free movie, to see "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" but couldn't go swimming due to the weather. The movie is a very cute film about a magical toy shop. My Mom had let us borrow the move several months ago, so we knew what was happening. It is a sweet film. We loved the movie, but alas we had some unhappy Wardlings when we couldn't swim! We returned home safely, after our game and had the Elders waiting on us. We had them over for dinner tonight. I have to say how impressed I am with my Clyde. He made dinner before we left and had it waiting on us when we came home. He is so thoughtful that way. Jacob really likes the tall Elder. Likes him so much, in fact that he gave him his red, darth vader light saber. Wow!!

ever get bored??

This morning started out great. I met Cheryl and we walked around my old neighborhood. I have felt great for the rest of the day. I didn't choose the right shoes to walk in, so simply note to self. When I arrived home, the Wardlings were all awake to greet me. I took the cool morning temperature to re-stake my tomato plants. The Roma's are filling up with little tomatoes. I am thrilled! I have 6 plants and they all needed to get re-staked. Plus- my new topsy turvy arrived in the mail today, so I am excited to learn more about the 'topsy turvy' way of tomato growing. My new toy doesn't have to be used solely for tomatoes, but can be used to grow a variety of veggies. This year, if it isn't too late, I am going to stick to tomatoes. Want to hear the funny thing??? I do not like eating raw tomatoes. I think that they taste funny. I do however, love them in spaghetti or lasagna, cooked. I could eat a bunch of tomatoes, if they were all stewed. When you look @ our house, the plants looks a bit overgrown with the veggies all in the front yard. I like it though. Gardening is fun. Last Friday, after Penny's dr. appointment, we planted green beans and they have grown so well. yadda yadda right, it is just veggies.

Penny was a bit tired after our hard work staking the garden, and needed a bit of a breather. I laid down with her and fell asleep for over an hour. I do not take naps usually. I find that my mind is too awake to sleep @ night. After awaking and showering, because I was a bit smelly after my walk, we did the usual laundry etc. Clyde was working on school work, and managed to make a lasagna. How wonderful is he?! As I have mentioned before, I am working on a secret project and let me say, it has been hard to work on it today. I love working on projects and being creative, but I do not have it in me today. I finished another part of it and must keep working on it, because the deadline is forthwith approaching quicker than I'd like. As I look around our house I see things, lots of little things that are out of place. I still haven't hung pictures or the things that make a house a home. Grammy and Papa, along with our favorite Maylee, are visiting us this weekend and thus I would like to have the house in order for their arrival. Our house will not look the same after they arrive, because the Wardlings must show them everything, but I would like for it to be sanitary for their stay. You know, fresh linens on the bed, fresh towels in the bathroom, floors mopped and freshly smelling of murphy's oil soap. (That is my favorite cleaning smell of all time.) However-I find that I am a bit bored lately. This isn't some depression thing either because I am happy with my life. Even though I have lots on my plate, like preparing upcoming sharing times, transportation to and fro summer activities, secret projects to work on, a house to clean, a garden to tend, having 5 children to entertain, a blessing dress along w/ a temple dress to make, dr. appointments to keep, soccer games to attend, and a non- verbal child to potty train, it has been hard to keep my mind occupied. Seriously, what is my deal?? I am simply bored. I have 3 things on knitting needles as I type, and I just cannot muster the gusto to complete them. Which is so unlike me. I like to finish what I start. I cannot stop making a dress. It must be completed and outta my head before I can move on. Maybe that is my problem- maybe the things aren't completed and out of my head, so I feel lulled. Clyde dislikes when I talk of Christmas presents this early in the year, but as the time is dwindling away, my 'to make' list gets longer and longer. I am really excited about the possibilities of an upcoming project that will be here in 2 weeks. I already know what I am going to do with it and it requires the learning of a new skill. I am indeed excited about that. Why am I so bored? Is it because it is merely summer without the hustle and bustle of the school year, with Clyde coaching several sports, the lack of homework, and no activity girls that has me a bit sluggish? Is it that I have been so busy that when I find the time to sit and do something, I just don't want to? I do not like having idle hands. I feel that it is a waste of time. I am hoping that I can get outta my boredom slump soon.

bearing vegetables

I had sharing time today. As apart of my lesson I brought in my newly planted green beans. After church today, I put them back in their spot and I was looking at the other plants. I found several baby squashes. I am so excited to see the veggies growing in our garden. I also enjoy that the Wardlings are getting into it as well. Their wee faces just glow when we see new baby tomatoes growing. They love to help me feed and water them. They are just as excited to watch the plants grow as I am. I am hoping that they will be as excited to eat the veggies that we are growing as well.

bridal shower

Last night was the bridal shower for my brother and future new sister-in-law. We had a fun night getting to know each other better. Tara, another sister-in -law had games galore. Mom, Raegen, and I brought a few munchies and it was fun to simply girl talk.
My Mom makes some rockin sugar cookies. She hand painted each of these little wedding cake cookies. They not only tasted good, but were beautiful to look at as well.
Here are the little girls who added some liveliness to the bridal shower.
Once the shower was over, the sky opened and there was rain galore. There was some loud thunder and bright lightening. The inclement weather knocked the power out of the church building. The church has emergency lights that turned on, but not int he bathroom. One of our guests was in the bathroom when the lights went out. Thankfully, Kayleigh came to the rescue. She had just completely charged up her DS, which provided enough light to help our guest int he bathroom. The only light that I had was my cell phone, which you can see in Tara's hand, which provided enough light to the entrance to the bathroom.
Kellen and Tara were waiting by the door to see if the rain would let up enough to get to their cars and to throw the trash away from the party. We were in the building for a while. Clyde took our boys to see a movie and he said that the power was out from the mall to the church building. They had to wait in the mall for a while to be able to go out to the van. On the drive home, Clyde spotted a car that was in about knees depth worth of water. The off ramp to the highway had flooded and this person thought that they could drive through it. Obviously not.

time out nap

Our time out spot is sitting on our stairs. Jacob had thrown a 5lb. weight at Josh and had hit Josh's leg. Josh was really upset and so punishment was time out. Jacob sat down, pouted a bit, and the next time I looked @ him, he was sound asleep.

I am working on a secret project. Penny swiped one of my supplies, walked off with it, and after attempting to get it back from her, she threw it. Needless to say, Penny was time out bound. Again, time to sit on the stairs. I looked over and she had fallen asleep too. I think that it is funny that they both fell asleep in time out.
